Now, your digital camera may not have the capability to mount photographic filters, but read this posting anyway.
When you see what you can do with filters you just might want a camera that can handle them.
While most of today's photographic image manipulations are accomplished by computer rather than in a dark room there are ways to manipulate images at the time the picture is taken.
By mounting the appropriate photographic filter in front of your camera's lens you can alter the image in ways you never knew existed. You can add or subtract contrast, selectively decrease the amount of light hitting the sensor for all of part of the frame, and add or subtract color if you're into the more surreal type of photo.
That's just the beginning of what you can do with a few filters.
Check out this great article about photographic filters for digital cameras, and this one about the basics of using photographic filters on digital cameras.
Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
