The digital camera revived photography as a hobby, and now nearly everyone has a digital camera, even if only in their cell phones.
Meanwhile the "artsy" side of photography is experiencing a rebirth as well as more and more amateur digital photographers uncover their creative talents.
The next time you go out to shoot some pictures look around for something that will lend itself well to a black & white treatment.
You'll be surprised at just how well defined an object, such as the Nautilus shell above, will look when printed in black and white only.
If taking photos of unusual or pleasing shapes, forms, and textures interests you take note that they will often reveal more detail without color.
Check out this article about producing black and white digital photos.
Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
