Time's running out to get gifts for your photographer friends.
Digital photographers can always use spare batteries, memory cards, tripods, lens cleaning equipment, photo albums, credit for prints at local or online processors, printer supplies, books about photography, filters, even blank CD's and DVD's.
Just be sure that whatever you want to buy is compatible with the recipient's camera.
Even though I'm not a big fan of them, because it locks the recipient into a particular merchant gift cards to places that sell digital camera gear can make the job easier.
If you go this route I suggest you get a card to one of the large, discount electronics retailers, preferably one that also does business online, rather than a dedicated camera store. The reason for this is price, camera stores are almost always far more expensive so your gift won't go as far.
There are exceptions to this rule about camera shops but it's chancy. Several online camera stores that I deal with are honest and offer rock bottom prices and great service.
Unfortunately, this is offset by the hundreds of scam artists out there who play bait and switch, so unless you or someone you trust has had first hand positive experiences with an online retailer steer clear of them.
Other Gift card alternatives are places like Amazon.com or Buy.com.
Better hurry, the holidays will be here in a flash.
