Should You Enhance Your Own Digital Photos?

My immediate reaction to my own question is, yes, of course, but, there may be times when you might want someone else to do it for you.

The beauty of digital photography is that it is economical compared to film; you only pay for what you print. So it behooves the digital photographer to shoot multiples of every subject, if you can.

Sometimes you can't, and if you have an image that you want to print, but it isn't up to Snuff, and it's the only one you have, there is the option of digital manipulation, or enhancement.

My advice is to use the graphics program that undoubtedly came bundled with your digital camera, or any other one you may have and give it a try. You have nothing to lose, as long as you keep the original file intact and unaltered. Always work on a copy of the original.

If you can't obtain an acceptable result and you just have to have that picture then you may want to have the photo professionally enhanced.

Check out this article about your options for professional digital photo enhancement.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
