Add Color to Images with Levels and Variations in Photoshop
Sometimes, you want to get a bit more creative with your images - change the colour range, add some background, alter highlights, and lighting directions
- that sort of thing.
The problem if you go changing the background, is matching lighting - incongruous colours and direction.
That's where this tutorial comes in - a great example of reworking a photo, and changing the whole feel of it by adding a couple of small details (background and reflection) and changing the colours used in the image.
I don't think any of the techniques used in this tutorial are particularly amazing - the skill lies in knowing when to use them to best get the effect you're targeting, and how to use them so well that the fact that the image has been edited doesn't jump out and smack people in the face.
