The BetterPhoto Digital Photography Show: Sacrificing the Good for the Better:
Taking a good photo really isn't that hard. We all probably take a photo we can comfortably consider to be 'good' every time we get out our cameras. Once you have a basic familiarity with the tools, good photos just flow. Easy.
Excellent photos require something else again - not just technical competence (although that is a requirement). Not just capturing the moment, anyone who can push the shutter button can do that. You need to capture the essence
of the scene - not just the visuals of it, but also the feelings that the scene has. Sometimes, perhaps often, you need to miss capturing the good photo, to take a risk, possibly miss that moment all together, and do something different, that gives you the chance to excel.
