Having trouble inducing your photo subjects to laugh? Try pulling out the SoccerCam the next time you snap a frame. Makers of the unit, Mustek, of Irvine, Calif., have taken a 2.1 megapixel digital camera and mounted it inside a casing that looks like a soccer ball. Priced at $39.95, the gizmo is definitely a novelty item. After all, there are cell phones with higher resolution cameras in them. Nevertheless, SoccerCam isn't as barebones an offering as it could be. It will shoot video, act as Web cam and double as a voice recorder. In addition, it has an AV out jack for displaying its contents on a TV. Be forewarned, however, while the camera may bring a smile to subjects who are fans of "Joga Bonito," there are many American males who the very mention of soccer will provoke yawns rather than yuks.
