OK, a new Nikon is about 17 days away from being announced. From the look of the beautifully concealed photo, it's at the prosumer end off the market, rather than the professional end, so I'm guessing it's either an updated version of the D200, or a replacement for the D70S.
While the former strikes me as a bit more likely, since we already know this one is capable of 10.2 megapixel shots, if it's the latter, then the D200 effectively becomes redundant, so we can expect a replacement for that in the not too distant future. Still, as I said, I think an updated version of the D200 is more likely. It keeps the range roughly the same, with the D50 at the entry level, the D70S for those who have already entered, but aren't made of money, or making money with it, and the D200 for those at the higher end. After that, we get into the pro end of the range – big bucks.
Anyhow – at this stage, all we know is… "More Power, More Control, More Versatile, More Excitement", the picture above, and 10.2 megapixels. The line "Integrating quality and affordability to meed the demands of passionate photos enthusiasts." definitely backs up the idea (from the photo) that it's in the prosumer range. Will be interesting to see how it's more powerful and versatile, how it offers more control and excitement.
