Looking for a digital camera with a monster zoom out of the box? Fujifilm has introduced a digital camera model-the Finepix S8000fd-with an 18x wide angle optical zoom lens. According to Fuji, the 35mm equivalent for the lens is 27mm-486mm. In other words, you'll be hard pressed to find an excuse for not getting the shot you want with this eight megapixel camera.

When you're working with digital cameras with long zooms, image stabilization is essential for avoiding pictures with "the jitters" and this Fuji model has an interesting scheme that uses a combination of mechanical stabilization with high ISO levels and faster shutter speeds to capture crisp photos unmarred by camera shake. The Fuji unit is expected to hit the shelves in September at a retail price of $399.95.
