.comThere's a new digital photo file format under development called, "HD Photo", which obviously stands for High Definition, and it promises to turn the world of digital photography on its ear.
Everything is going "HD" these days, TV, terrestrial and satellite radio, DVD's, camcorders, and soon, digital still cameras.
This new format is exciting and will revolutionize digital photography. Not only will your pictures be crisper but you'll be able to choose from among a variety of image sizes and resolutions without any lose in picture detail or quality.
The day of the JPEG and other file formats may very well be history as this versatile format takes over.
The introduction of this new format may affect your decision to buy a high end DSLR, or even a high dollar prosumer digital camera, if such a device is in your near future.
Before you plunk down thousands for top of the line camera you may decide to hold off until the "HD Photo" format is available. Since this is a Microsoft brainchild you can expect its use to be widespread and universal very quickly.
Here's the link to information and a highly technical video about "HD Photo".
For you real tech heads this link will take you to the Microsoft HD Photo specification download site.
And this is the Wikipedia page for the technology.
