The Gadgets Weblog - Talk of Tech Tools and Toys - Naughty Lens Launched:
OK, I'm not one of those 'the government should do something' people, so there's no real remedy I can suggest for this. It's not the sort of thing I'm particularly likely to ever buy, but I can empathise with the 'I wonder what she looks like under her clothes' line of questioning as well as any heterosexual male, and I'm not so much of a hypocrite as to label anyone who buys and uses one of these. I do rather think it's cheating, however - if the target of your attention wanted you to see what was under her (OK, said target might be male, but really the odds of that are pretty slim) clothes, she'd probably find a way to let you know. If you had the emotional fortitude to go and have a conversation with said target.
My big objection to this sort of thing is that people who know about it, and see a camera pointed in their direction, may just start wondering if you're using one, and be less happy about you shooting an innocent (yet visually enjoyable) photo. Anyone who's been out and about, taking photos in public has experienced the dirty looks when someone suspects you of pointing a camera in their direction - and this sort of thing really doesn't help.
I disapprove, but there's not a damned thing I can do about it.
