OK, I know this is a site about photography, and MorgueFile isn't. What it is, is a stock photography suite, which is just a little outside my brief for DigitalShot. However, I wrote the brief for DigitalShot, so I get to break it. So there.
Anyhow – MorgueFile is is a stock photography site – the images are reasonably freely available (as always, never trust what anyone says until you read the terms and conditions of use for yourself – even if it's me), sufficiently high resolution, and quite well categorised. I'd probably like slightly larger thumbnails, but that's just me.
So, if you're looking for a photo that you can't take yourself for some reason, or even if you're just looking for photographic inspiration, have a look there – there's a heap of great content.

Morgue file DOES also have a lot of helpful information for budding photographers as well. In particular in the “classroom” section where you find a very helpful beginning photography course to help you understand a lot of the basics of exposure, depth of field, shutter speed, lighting, and even has instructions on how to make some of your own lighting equipment.
