Let Your Digital SLR Breathe New Life Into Old Lenses

It may not seem to make much sense at first but read on and be surprised with what you can do with some "old time" lenses.

First off I do want to mention that using film SLR lenses on a digital SLR camera body can range anywhere from very easy to very challenging and the way these lenses "behave" on a digital body may be quite different from its performance on a film camera.

You need the correct adapter or mount, available from several sources, and even then the lens may not meter correctly or autofocus, but it's still worth the effort.

These "old time" lenses, whether OEM or 3rd party brands, run the gamut from great to crap but at today's low prices, with the exception of the more exotic brands or types, one can afford some experimenting.

Why do it at all? Because these lenses produce results that can be more pleasing than with dedicated DSLR lenses and you just might like the creative possibilities.

Here's a well done list of some of the more desirable film camera lenses for digital SLRs.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
