LATEST HOME PRINTERS CUT CONSUMABLES COSTS

My biggest knock against home printing is the exorbitant cost of consumables, particularly for name brand ink.
See my posting about this here
kodak
apparently has taken notice of this universal complaint by digital photographers and is introducing a new line of reasonably priced home printers that use special ink cartridges that will sell at reasonable prices.Their announcement states that the cost of a 4X6 print should come in at about 10 cents. That's low, but will the quality be there? Can the output compete with local commercial printers that are down to as low as 13 cents?
The new machines are all in ones, meaning that they not only print but also scan and copy, which for some people may make them that much more attractive. The top of the line model is also a fax machine.
The printers offer many additional features and will be available beginning next month. Check them out here.
As long as we're discussing home printers Panasonic has also announced some new offerings that are aimed at a different crowd.
Their new printers are designed to be completely compatible with their line of Lumix cameras and allow the operator to take full advantage of all the advanced features these cameras offer.
Print permanency of 100 years is claimed and you can bet I've already got a reminder set up to check on that in early 2107.
