I'm not talking about cleaning your computer monitor's screen, so you can discern colors and detail better, although that helps too.
What I'm referring to is cleaning your computer's memory so it will operate quicker and more efficiently.
The reason for this is simple. When you're editing your digital photos you form a mental image of what you want the finished product to look like.
I have found that when my computer slows down during this process my mind starts to drift and I sometimes lose that mental image. Reacquiring it is time consuming and can lead to a rushed, botched job.
So the answer is do everything you can to speed up your computer, such as defragmenting the hard drive and deleting unnecessary programs and files.
