Not something most of you will use for the most part I guess - but something I've got, and I'm starting to find uses for. See, I'm a numbers geek - since i first found out about exif, I've been watching out for trends in my photographic habits. Now, with this little tool, and a bit of my day-job-related expertise, I can do more than just keep an eye out for trends; Now, I can actively monitor them.

It's part of an ongoing project. The first part is a script (written in my preferred scripting language - Perl) that is an integral part of my workfllow[1]. This is the script that creates my archive directory and the structure within it, and moves the raw files from the memory card onto my local hard drive. Quite simple stuff.

Now, I'm working on integrating jhead with it - all the exif data that I can care to find going straight into a database (MySQL in this case, but anything would do really). From there, there'll be a set of php scripts running under a web server - accessing the information in the database - summarising and twisting it to my nefarious ends.

[1] More on this Workflow in progress in a later article, once I've got all the bugslinks ironed out
