How to Create Photographs that Get Attention - Galen Rowell Tip | Wanderings.net:
This lesson came very clear to me recently while driving down a street busy with buildings. The ONLY buildings I noticed during that drive were ones that had curves and diagonal lines and shapes. The rest of the architectural landscape Escape my notice or attention. It's not that the other building looked bad or had different color scheme. It was the shapes, the diagonal lines and curves that caught my attention.
There are a number of things that can make your photographs bad - the framing, the lighting, lack of stability, poor timing... dozens of things. However, even if you get all those right, you're still not assured of a great photo, one that reaches out and grabs people.
Sometimes, you need to come at things from a different angle...
