I'm not a home improvement kind of guy, but I can't resist browsing in a hardware store from time to time. A recent post by Jim Dennewill at his Slightly Out of Focus blog reminded me why.

When shooting static objects, Jimmy likes to add some drama to the shot with some under the subject lighting. To do it, he needed a thick piece of glass-around 3/8-inches thick. Problem was, he says, most glass outlets don't stock glass that thick. While ruminating on this challenge, he ambled over to his local hardware super store on an unrelated matter and by happenstance found exactly what he needed.
