"CNET" is a highly useful website that offers a variety of high quality free technical information.
I just came across this part of their site which offers free courses in digital photography and I thought some of you would be interested in what they offer.
I'm Sorry about being a day late and a dollar short on this one, but the course will be given again, soon, and you can sign up to be notified of its availability.
In the meantime check out the contents of the "Print, Save and Organize Your Digital Photos" course, and while you're on the site surf around and see what else they have that's of interest to you.
Today's picture was pretty much an afterthought. I was at The Red Rock National Preserve a few days ago shooting some video for an upcoming post for my "PlayTime Las Vegas" blog when, while taking a breather, I thought the juxtaposition of the sign and background would make for an interesting shot.
I was too lazy to go back to the car for a "real" digital camera so I took the picture with my JVC mini-DV camcorder.
This camcorder has a 1.2 MP imager and allows snapshots to be saved on an SD memory card. I compensated a little for the heavily backlit scene, and I think the shot, even in it's now highly compressed state, is pretty good, especially for a 1.2 mega pixel sensor designed primarily for video.
It never hurts to give a shot a try, even if you don't have your best digital camera handy, particularly since, with digital, you only print the ones you want.
