Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture are the two premiere digital photography post processing programs used by professional photographers.
Unfortunately, as good as they are, these programs are very expensive, and very complex, so not many amateur digital photographers use them.
However, there is an acceptable substitute, for amateurs, and it's free.
