With all the technical advances and improvements in digital cameras and digital photography, does it make sense to take look into the past, at film camera photographs for inspiration?
You bet it does, consider that most of the world's greatest images were taken with film cameras, and you'll realize that there were some benefits to the "old way."
The old way, except for those with money to burn on film and processing and who used high speed motor drives, consisted of carefully composing each shot after checking the exposure settings.
In fact, that was easy compared to using "view cameras" which required each "piece" of film, to be manually loaded.
However, the results, especially from great photographers such as Ansel Adams (scenics), Richard Avedon (portraits), and Jay Maisel (street photography), are without parallel.
So study the work of film camera artists and then slow down a bit and spend more time composing your shots with your digital camera.
Check out this article for additional tips on how to be a better digital photographer by studying film photographs.
I took the above photo 4 years ago with a clunky, old Russian, rangefinder camera that has manual everything.
The picture may not be an award winner but I think it's OK.
I happen to like the way the lens on that camera renders colors and contrast, but because that camera is such a pain to use I took my time setting up the shot and I think the result was worth the effort.
Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.

iquid crystal displays are used in digital cameras as a viewfinder. Usually the screen is around two inches measured diagonally and can also be used to play back images taken earlier. LCD screens are also used on some television sets and computers.
