There's almost always an occasion to take pictures and an opportunity such as a wedding engagement should not be missed.
This is an oft overlooked event that is sometimes only documented as an afterthought by "one of The girls" at the office who takes a few shots with her cell phone camera at an informal get together.
However, let's face it, without an engagement there wouldn't be a wedding to photograph so the engagement, and its party if there is one, is a significant event.
If the bride and/or groom are close to you a bound photo album of the entire sequence of pre-engagement, engagement, wedding, and post-wedding photos would make a unique gift for their first anniversary.
Check out this informative article about shooting engagement photos with your digital camera.
Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.

We are increasingly finding the wedding album comes in several volumes, including the engagement, the hen and stag parties the wediing itself and then the honeymoon.
So shooting not only the engagement ring but photos of where the proposal tooks place etc makes for a more complete story.
