Night photography has always fascinated me but I have to admit I haven't been all that successful at snapping pictures after sunset. A new book by John Carucci may change that, though.

The book, Nighttime Digital Photography with Adobe Photoshop CS3 ($32.99), published last month in Paperback by Peachpit Press, has just received kudos from T. Michael Testi at Blogcritics Magazine. Although shooting at night can best be done with a digital SLR, Testi notes that the book's projects can be performed with a point-and-shoot shutterbox that has a nighttime or slow shutter mode. He adds that while the book is written for the latest version of Photoshop, most of the techniques used in it for manipulating night shots can be used with older versions of the program.

"If you want to get into nighttime photography and have always wanted to know how to get there, then Nighttime Digital Photography With Adobe Photoshop CS3 is a very good start," Testi writes. "It covers all the bases and will give you a lot of information to get you started."
