ARE YOUR PRINTS GOOD ENOUGH TO SELL?

With all the advertising that's hitting us from every imaginable angle these days there's a tremendous need for non-product stock photographs.
Are yours good enough to sell to advertisers? They just might be, and there are other outlets looking for good quality digital images.
Wouldn't it be great to make a few bucks off your hobby without having to invest a lot of time, and worse yet, money?
Well there are ways in which you can market your photographs right from your own home using your trusty computer of course.
If you think your work is truly outstanding, and if the files are truly hi-res you may be able to sell them as works of art, and at fairly high prices. Many people have done this, but believe me, the competition is plentiful and fierce, and you will have to at least mat the work and possibly frame it as well.
Then there's the issue of shipping, and oh yes, you better make sure that what you sell is output on the best quality media and that all mounting materials are acid free. You'll also need a website and a marketing plan. Hey, if you think your stuff has what it takes, go for it.
But, there is a way to give the market a try, albeit for a much smaller return, but who knows where it will lead.
You can join a "Stock Photo Service," and sell your images, on a royalty
basis, through them. You can sell the same picture an unlimited number of times too. All you have to do is join, post your photos and sit back and hope someone finds them and buys them. The downside is that the payment per picture is low; the upside is that it's easy and if you specialize in a much needed area you could sell a substantial amount of work.
Here's the link to "istockphoto.com", one of the biggest stock photo outlets.
In fact, Creative Weblogging maintains an account with them, and although I personally only use their service once in a blue moon, my fellow bloggers use it on a daily basis.
For those of you who want to try selling directly to the public here's some helpful links:
"Pixaria" offers software that allows you to upload your files to a website in an organized way and have them ready for sale immediately.
Please note that I have no interest in this company, nor, frankly do I know anything about them, or their product. I'm only pointing them out as an example of what's available if you want to research the feasibility of using such a product. I recommend you conduct your own search and evaluate similar offerings before buying.
Here's a website loaded with tips for those who want to start a photography business.
Have fun and good luck, as I always say to my readers at my "PlayTime Las Vegas Blog".
