"I would compare it to the iPhoto I've always wanted and been willing to pay for."

Ted Leung points out that Apple have posted some more documentation on the Aperture Support Page
Apple have released an Apple Aperture Compatibility Checker, which tells me I'll have to upgrade to 10.4.3 (I'm at 10.3.9 now). I guess Aperture is the compelling feature that might get me to upgrade before 10.5. Apple have also made available a PDF on Digital Photography, which I'm told is: "written for Aperture users but it's full of information on how a digital camera works, digital photography fundamentals, explanation of resolution, etc. This is a must have even if you don't plan on buying Aperture" [this is who told me that].
Seth makes (part of) his living from training folk
in how to use Photoshop - but he's not worried about Aperture. Why? Because it's not a Photoshop killer. It's a tool for managing images that includes a bit of manipulation. Photoshop is a tool for manipulating images that works well with Adobe Products like Bridge.
